Back for a fourth season at KNSI with your weekly amateur baseball (Town Team) baseball reports. Including not only game summaries, but upcoming schedules, league standings. Tournament summaries and an occasional special interest feature. The plan is to continue to include: Lakewood League, Central Valley League, Sauk Valley League, Victory League South and Stearns County teams throughout their league playoffs, regional and state tourney games. VICTORY LEAGUE SOUTH

ST. STEPHEN STEVES 4, RANDALL CUBS 2 (4/29/17 @ Trobec Memorial Field, St. Stephen)

The Steves defeated the Cubs of the Western Division of the Victory League 4-2. They got good pitching from their staff, with Veteran Nick Krippner starting on the mound. He threw 4 innings, he gave up just 2 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Isaac Dammen threw 4 1/3 innings of relief to earn the win, he gave up 4 hits, 4 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Blake Guggenberger game in to retire the final two batters, to earn the save.

The Steves were led by Mr. Consistent, Rick Hendrickson, he went 2-4 with a home run and a double and he scored 2 runs. He actually led the game off with a towering shot to left center field. Austin Guggenberger went 1-4 with a RBI and Brandon Waldvogel went 1-1 with a sacrifice fly and a walk for 2 big RBI's. T. J. Bevans went 1-4 with a double and he scored a run and Blake Guggenberger went 1-2 and he earned a pair of walks. Troy Munson went 1-2 with a sacrifice bunt, Cody Wolhart went 1-2 with a walk and Alex Wolhart scored a run.

The Cubs were led by Alec Zack, he went 3-4 with a walk and he scored a run and Dusky Parker went 1-2 with 2 walks and one RBI. Matt Otremba went 1-5 and Brett Strack went 1-4 and he scored a run. Kyle Peterschick walked and he was hit by a pitch, Rich Drew was hit by a pitch and he had a RBI and Eric Thilquist earned a walk.

OPOLE BEARS 10, RANDALL CUBS 5 (4/30/17@ Randall)

The Bears defeated the Cubs of the West Division 10-5 backed by a good pitching performance by Zach Bialka. He threw a complete game, he scattered 9 hits, 6 walks, gave up 5 runs and he recorded 7 strikeouts. Three Bears had multi hit games to lead their offense, Brad Hintzman went 3-5 with a double for 3 RBI's. Austin Gerards went 3-4 with a home run and a double for 2 RBI's and he earned a walk. Peter Schumer had a big game, he went 2-5 with a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Jake Klein went 1-3 with a RBI and he scored 2 runs and Alex Lange went 1-4 with a RBI and he earned a walk. John Pilarski went 1-5 and he scored a run and Isaiah Folsom went 1-3 with a walk and he scored a pair of runs. Zach Bialka went 1-5 and he scored 2 runs and player/manager Scott Binek went 1-3 with a RBI.

The Cubs starting pitcher, was the pitcher of record, Rich Drew. He threw 6 innings, he gave up 9 hits, 3 walks, 7 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Kyle Peterschick threw 3 innings in relief, he gave up 5 hits, 3 runs and he recorded a pair of strikeouts.

UPSALA BLUE JAYS 10, AVON LAKERS 6 (4/29/17 @ Avon)

The Blue Jays of the West Devision defeated the Lakers 10-6, back by a 12 hit attack and good pitching performances. Eric Lampert started on the mound, he threw 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, 2 walks, 1 run and he recorded 8 strikeouts. John Fuchs threw 3 2/3 innings of relief, he gave up 5 hits, 2 walks, 5 runs and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Paul Krenz earned the save, as he retired one batter with the bases loaded and the winning run in the on deck circle. Brady Burggraff went 2-6 with a double for 2 RBI's and he scored 3 runs. Eric Lampert went 2-5 with 2 RBI's, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Dustin Biniek went 2-4 with a double, he scored a run and he earned a pair of walks. Paul Krebs went 2-3 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI, he walked twice and he scored 2 runs. Brandon Welinski went 2-4 with a RBI, 1 stolen base, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Justin Lambert went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and he was hit by a pitch and John Fuchs went 1-2 with a double and he earned a walk.

The Lakers starting pitcher Jon Harlander was their pitcher of record. He threw 5 innings, he gave up 2 hits, 3 walks, 2 runs and he recorded 4 strikeouts. Cody Stich threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 6 hits, 3 walks, 4 runs and he recorded 2 strikeouts. Shane Olmsheid threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 4 hits, 4 runs, 3 walks. Matt Meyer went 2-4 with 2 RBI's and he earned a walk. Carter Holthaus went 2-4 with a RBI, 2 stolen bases and he scored a run. Caleb Curry went 1-4 with a double and he scored a run and Zac Tomsche went 1-2 with a RBI, he walked twice and he scored a run. Cod Stich went 1-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Tony Schoenberg earned a walk and he scored a run.

EXHIBITION GAMES

CLEAR LAKE LAKERS 11 STAPLES LUMBERBATS 6 (4/29/17 @ Pine Grove Park, Staples)

The Lakers defeated the Lumberbats of the Lake and Pine League aided by 11 big hits and 8 walks awarded by the Staples pitching staff. Hunter Mutterer started on mound for the Lakers, he threw 2 innings, he gave up 1 hit, 3 walks, 3 runs and he recorded a strikeout. Ryan Paasch threw 3 innings of relief to earned the win, he gave up just 1 hit, 2 runs, 1 walk and he recorded 7 big strikeouts. Richard Thompson threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk and he recorded a pair of strikeouts. Mike Golombiecki threw 1 2/3 innings, he gave up 1 walk and he record 3 strikeouts and Cory Schmidt retired the final batter. The Lakers staff earned a total of 13 big strikeouts.

The Lakers had two players with multi hit games, Hunter Mutterer had a very good game, he went 3-4 with a double for 3 big RBI's. Izzy Carper went 3-4 and he scored a pair of runs and Matt Korte went 1-5 with a triple for 3 big RBI's, he scored a run and he had a stolen base. Richard Thompson went 1-4 with a double for a RBI and Cory Schmidt went 1-4 with a walk, he scored 3 runs and he had a stolen base. Mitch Vogt went 2-3 for 2 RBI's and he earned a walk and Aaron Vogt was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Jordan Golombiecki earned 2 walks, scored a run and he was hit by a pitch, Ryan Skyzmanski earned a pair of walks and he scored a run. Ryan Paasch earned a walk and was credited with a RBI, Mike Golombiecki scored a run and Jacob Carper walked and he scored a run.

The Lumberbats were led by Blake Petrich, he went 1-3 with a triple, scored 2 runs and he earned a walk. Austin Redemske went 2-4 and he scored 2 runs. Eric Hybl started on the mound for the Lumberbats, he threw 3 innings, gave up 6 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks and he recorded a strikeout. Jason Bachmann threw 5 innings of relief, he was the pitcher of record. He gave up 5 hits, 7 runs, 3 walks and he recorded 6 strikeouts and Jase Holmberg threw 1 inning, he issued a walk.


WATERTOWN RED DEVILS 5 KIMBALL EXPRESS 4 (4/29/17 @ Kimball)

The Express gave up 5 runs in the second inning, off of a couple of walks, 3 hits and a couple of defensive miscues. The Express left the bases loaded in the 3rd inning after plating one run. The tying run was left on 2nd base, after the Express rallied for a pair of runs in the bottom of the 9th. Zach Dingmann started on the mound for the Express and he was the pitcher of record. He threw 3 innings, gave up 4 hits, 5 runs, 1 walk and he recorded 5 strikeouts. Matt Dingman threw 4 innings of relief, he gave up just 2 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 6 strikeouts. Joe VonWahlde threw 2 innings of relief, he gave up 2 hits, 1 walk and he recorded 2 strikeouts.

Austin Ruehle went 2-5 with a RBI and he scored a run and Scott Marquardt went 2-3 with a walk, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Adam Beyer went 1-4 with a double and a sacrifice fly for 3 RBI's and Ben Johnson went 1-4 and he earned a walk. Ben Theisen went 1-4 with a triple ad he scored a run, Joey VonWahlde walked and he scored a pair of runs and both Brian and Brooks Marquardt both earned walks.

Lefty Pat Tschida started on the mound for the Red Devils; he threw 4 innings, gave up 3 hits, 2 walks, 1 run and he recorded 3 strikeouts. Side note, last weekend Pat won a game over Class A St. Louis Park with a 2 hitter. Justin Kohls threw 5 innings of relief to earn the save. He gave up 5 hits, 3 runs, 3 walks and he recorded 7 strikeouts.

Pat Tschida went 2-5 with a triple and a double for a RBI and he scored a run. Jared Duske went 2-5 with a double and Bryce Walt went 2-4. Adam Porter went 1-3 with a sacrifice bunt and Justin Kohls went 1-4 with a stolen base and he scored a run.

PEARL LAKE LAKERS 16 REGAL EAGLES 15 (4/29/17@ Pearl Lake)

The Lakers defeated the Eagles of the County Line League 16-15 in a pitching battle. They did pound the ball, as they collected 16 hits with Ryan Wieneke leading the way. He went 3-6 with a home run and a double for 3 big RBI's. Player/Manager Tommy Linn had a good game, he went 4-6 with 4 RBI's. Mitchell Wieneke, Justin Kunkel and Colton Denn all collected 2 hits apiece. No pitching stats were kept for either team.

Offensively for the Eagles, Nathan Beier went 3-6 with a home run, Blake Karsch and Nathan Beier each had a pair of hits.
